A native of Los Angeles, Dr. Will Setzer is a distinguished organic chemist whose career spans over four decades of academic and field excellence. He is currently Professor Emeritus and former Chair of the Chemistry Department at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
Since 1990, his research has focused on the intersection of ethnobotany and drug discovery. His bioprospecting expeditions have led him from the Monteverde Cloud Forest in Costa Rica to the remote regions of North Queensland, Australia, and the Bahamas.

Dr. Setzer’s primary research interests include natural products drug discovery, essential oils, and molecular modeling. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Arizona and served as an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow in Germany.
